Dear WDS Families,
As we approach the end of another wonderful school year, we want to share a few important updates and heartfelt reflections with you.
Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation
On June 21, we renewed our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation through education. We continue to honor Call to Action 62.3 by integrating Indigenous knowledge, languages, and teaching methods into our classrooms. Our learning will be grounded in land-based practices and the CBE Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework, which is available on our school website on the Our School page.
Report Cards & Appeals Day
Student report cards will be available online from June 25 to July 25. You can access them by logging into your MyCBE account here: Student and Parent / Legal Guardian Sign In (cbe.ab.ca).
*If you have questions about your child’s report card, our Appeals Day is Friday, June 27, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Please contact your child’s teacher to schedule an appointment.
June 26 – Last Day of School & Sports Day
Our final day of school is Thursday, June 26. It will be a fun-filled Sports Day as well as an early dismissal day. We encourage students to show their school spirit by wearing sports jerseys, WDS swag, or our school colors—blue and orange!
- Grades 1–6 dismissal: 12:05 PM
- Kindergarten dismissal: 11:00 AM
Please ensure timely pickup, as staff will be attending an appreciation luncheon following dismissal. Students will begin bringing home their school supplies soon, so please send an extra bag or two to help carry their belongings.
A Year of Growth and Community
This year has been filled with meaningful learning experiences and memorable community events. We are so grateful to our School Council and the many parent volunteers who have supported our school. Your time and dedication have made a lasting impact—thank you!
Farewells and New Beginnings
As we say goodbye to our Grade 6 students, we celebrate their achievements and wish them all the best as they transition to Grade 7. We also bid farewell to several valued staff members: Ms. Alparslan, Ms. Barnhart, Ms. Moore, Mr. Quinn, Ms. Stephenson, and Ms. Swan. We thank them for their dedication and contributions to WDS and wish them well in their new roles and adventures in the new school year.
A special farewell goes to Ms. Balobina, a cherished educational assistant in our EES program, who is retiring. We wish her all the best in the next chapter.
We’re pleased to share that Ms. Cook, Ms. Joly, and Mr. Gutierrez-Medina will be returning to WDS in the fall. We also look forward to welcoming new EES teachers, Danielle Bernardin and Melissa Corscadden Plett, to the WDS team.
Looking Ahead
We wish all our families a safe, restful, and joyful summer break. We look forward to welcoming returning students on Tuesday, September 2, for the first day of the 2025–26 school year.
With appreciation,
Rhonda Williams, Keri Glowacki, and the West Dalhousie School Staff
