Dear Families,
This week we had an amazing week with Jeff Stockton. He is such an engaging storyteller and harpist. Ask your children to retell the stories that they have heard. We had our Rugby residency again this week with Rugby Alberta. Ask your children what they learned in PE this week. This week we also had our School Council Meeting, Thanks to all the parents who attended. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Thanksgiving, October 14
Happy Thanksgiving to all those families who celebrate this holiday. Thanksgiving Day in Canada is a holiday on the second Monday of October. It is a chance for people to give thanks for a good harvest and other fortunes in the past year. There will be no school on Monday, October 14.
Circle Friday, October 18
Next Friday we will be having our second Circle Friday. The theme for our Circle Friday this month is on the Body – To Do. Students will be doing some land-based learning as they sit in Sit Spots and notice deeply the characteristics of natural items. Students will share their observations in Sharing Circles and learn the Blackfoot words for some of these parts of nature.
Individual Program Plans (IPPs)
If your children are on Individualized program plans (IPPs), your child's homeroom teacher would have sent home your child's IPP for parents/guardians to review and sign. Please return to the school by Tuesday, October 15.

Halloween, October 31
fast Halloween is approaching, and students are getting excited to dress up. We are asking that all student costumes are school-appropriate, non-violent, and do not include face coverings, masks, weapons, or props for safety reasons. Wearing a costume is optional and students do not have to dress up. If students choose to wear a costume to school, please have them dressed in their costume before they arrive at school.
Remembrance Day
November 11 marks an important day for us to remember and honor all of those people who have served and are currently serving in our military. WDS will honor this day by hosting a Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 7 at 9:30 AM. Families are invited to attend the ceremony.
We will be creating a video for the ceremony featuring photos of students’ relatives who have or are currently serving in the military. We are asking for families to send in photos of relatives to include in our video. When sending in photos, please include information about the individual pictured (person’s name, relation to the student, student’s name, where/when the individual served). Please email pictures and accompanying information to Mrs. Glowacki at kaglowacki@cbe.ab.ca by November 1 to be included in the slide show.
