Week at a Glance, November 27-December 1 

  

Dear WDS Families, we are enjoying the beautiful weather this week and hope it will continue for the remainder of December. We have another staffing update to share - we have received a term-specific Enhanced Educational Supports (EES) Educational Assistant (EA) from November 28 until the end of January 2024.  Our EA is Kimberly Miller, and she will be floating between Ms. Jennifer's and Ms. Leslie's classes providing additional support to the EES program. 

Illness 

If your child is not feeling well or is displaying symptoms of a cold, flu or any illness, please keep them home. If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please call the office at 403-777-6110, ext.1 

 

Personal Belongings 

Students are not permitted to use toys during class time. Students are expected to store and keep toys at home. Sports equipment including hockey, lacrosse sticks, footballs, and rugby balls should be left at home. We have sporting equipment that students can use at recess. Personal belongings frequently get lost or broken and become a distraction to learning. 

 

Winter Solstice 

In keeping with our commitment to land-based learning this year we will be hosting a winter solstice assembly on December 21 at 1:45 pm. During this assembly, the Grade 5/6 students will be sharing winter-themed songs that they have been learning about in music. There will also be a whole school song that the entire school will be singing. Student winter art will also be on display for families to view. All Families are welcome to attend this assembly. 

 

Project Kindness 

“Winter Wishes” greeting cards went home today. If you can add a gift card to the envelope that is appreciated but not required. All cards need to be returned to the school (in the envelope provided) no later than Monday, December 11th even if you are unable to make a gift card donation. Know that adding warm wishes and kind thoughts to the envelope is a way to show support and kindness to others.
