Dear WDS Families
This week, we experienced winter weather, please ensure students are dressed for the weather, as they will be outside each day for both morning and lunchtime recess. On Friday, staff and students dressed as if it was summertime. On Friday, we were happy to welcome Superintendent Dr. Mike Nelson and Director Aubrey Fletcher who came to WDS to complete a school visit. On Friday we also had our monthly Circle Friday gathering where students learned an indigenous game that focused on building relationships and a sense of community. During our Sharing Circle, students were also invited to share the games that they play with their family or that are important to their culture and what these games can teach us.
Scholastics Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be running during learning conferences on November 28 and 29 in the Learning Commons. We invite all families to drop by the Learning Commons and see the latest, greatest selection of books for all ages which are available for purchase. You will find a wide assortment of quality books for all reading levels. This event is not only a wonderful way to foster a love of reading, but it is also a fundraiser for our school. Proceeds will go towards adding new titles and resources to our school library.
Ms. May, our library assistant, is looking for a few amazing parent volunteers to help with this event – if you are available, please sign up using the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B4DADA92BA6FAC34-52883046-scholastics
