Dear WDS Families, this week we had our dazzling spring concert. A special thank you to Ms. Dickson for creating an amazing celebration of music, imagination, and the joy of beloved Disney melodies. Thank you to Ms. Moorhead, Ms. Palichuk, and Ms. Pearson who helped make the night such a huge success by supporting behind the scenes. Thank you to all our WDS families that attended this event and the WDS staff for their support.
The Grade 6 students went to HD Cartwright this week to tour the school and learn about what junior high school is all about. Transition meetings will be taking place over the next few weeks between WDS and HD Cartwright teachers to ensure a smooth transition for students from their existing school to their new school in the fall.
We had 3 of our duck eggs hatch out of their shells over the past week. We first began to see ‘pip’s (small holes) appear in the eggshells. The duckling then made their way out of the shells and eventually the new baby ducklings emerged. Welcome to the world Pepper, Bob and Chester! All the students at the school have been able to visit our new ducklings. They will be going back to live on the farm this weekend.
Kindergarten Orientation | May 23
We have our Kindergarten Orientation on Thursday, May 23 at 6:30 pm, in the learning commons. The orientation is open to new kindergarten families and their children who live in Dalhousie who are registered and will begin kindergarten in August of 2024.
Lunchtime Flip
We are experimenting with sending our students outside to play first and then bringing them in for lunch. This change has resulted in calmer classrooms and increased appetites. Student and staff feedback is being solicited regarded this shift.
School Council
Please join us on June 13 for our next school council meeting.
