Dear WDS Families,
This week, West Dalhousie School came together to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation through a meaningful school-wide assembly focused on the history and significance of Orange Shirt Day.
Following the assembly, we held our first Circle Day of the year. Students engaged in thoughtful conversations about truth and reconciliation and participated in a sharing circle that celebrated each person’s unique qualities. These moments of connection continue to strengthen our school community and foster a culture of inclusion and empathy.
We also had Photo Day, capturing smiles and memories as we kicked off another exciting school year!
Staffing Updates
We are excited to announce that Ms. Nneena Nwaezeaku has accepted the EES teaching position while Ms. Melissa is on leave. Ms. Nneena brings dedication and a strong commitment to student success, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the West Dalhousie School and the EES team!
Casino Volunteers
West Dalhousie School Council is still looking for casino volunteers for Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 14 at Cowboys Casino.
Funds raised from the casino support many school programs and initiatives such as residencies, technology and library books.
You do not need police clearance to volunteer, and do not need to be a parent or guardian at West Dalhousie. No experience is necessary and all training is provided. Please visit Sign Up Genius or scan the QR code for position information and to sign up.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to email wds.council.events@gmail.com. Thank you in advance for your support!
October Field Trips
Due to our upcoming strike, all field trips scheduled for the month of October will be cancelled. If you were a parent who had signed up to volunteer, we sincerely appreciate your support and willingness to help.
We are hoping to reschedule these trips for a later date, depending on availability and scheduling opportunities. Thank you for your understanding and continued support!
Drumming Residency
The drumming residency booked for next week has been postponed and we are hoping to rebook for a later date.
School Council
Our School Council meeting originally scheduled for October 9 will be rescheduled for when the strike concludes.
Healthy Hunger
Due to the strike action, all Healthy Hunger orders for October have been cancelled. A credit will be applied to your Healthy Hunger account automatically.
Reconnecting Soon
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's learning. We hope to see your smiling faces back at West Dalhousie School soon and look forward to re-engaging in meaningful learning experiences together once the strike concludes.
Sincerely,
Rhonda, Keri, and the teachers at WDS
