Dec. 19-23 Update | Winter Celebration, School Council, Gift Card Drive, Reporting Information

Hello WDS families. News, updates, and reflections of our week here at the school.

Winter Celebration

Thursday afternoon last week our students energetically showcased their music learning through their performances at Winter Celebration. It was not possible for our audience members to leave the festivity without smiles on their faces and music in their hearts. The students’ perspectives on winter shared through song made it difficult not to appreciate our snowy and cold days. Thank you to the students who worked so hard the last several weeks and to their teacher, Ms. Collin, whose dedication and creativity helped our students achieve excellence.

Thank you to the parents, grandparents and other family members and friends who were able to attend. We realize that afternoon performances do not fit with every family’s schedule. For this reason, we are making the performance available through a private You Tube site. Once this is set up, teachers will post a private YouTube link to your child’s Google Classroom. We are anticipating the video will be available for viewing by Wednesday, Dec. 21.

School Council

Thank you to the School Council chair, Tina, who was also at our school Thursday afternoon introducing our adult guests to valuable parenting support resources. The council has purchased a shelf of books covering a range of topics to support the important role of parenting. These books are available for loan to all parents from WDS. Thank you School Council for making this valuable investment to our parent community.

Woods Home Charity Gift Card Drive

Another big thank you for the kindness and generosity of our school community. The cards the students have made are sure to brighten and encourage the recipients this holiday season and the parent gift card donations totalling $2800 will have an impact on so many Woods Home students. The drive is a valuable lesson for our students in learning about kindness, thinking of others, and working together as a family to make a difference. Thank you to School Council and Ms. Moore for initiating and organizing this very worthwhile cause.
