Dear WDS Families, this week our Grade 3-6 students went on a field trip to the Arts Commons to hear Dr. Jane Goodall share her insights and dedication to conservation and protecting our planet. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who attended this event.

Purdys

Thank you to all WDS families who supported the School Council Purdys fundraiser. Happy Easter to all of our WDS families that celebrate this holiday.

*There is no school on April 18 due to Good Friday and no school on April 21 due to a CBE Professional Development Day.

Earth Day, April 22

The theme this year is Biodiversity. The term biodiversity (from “biological diversity”) refers to the variety of life on Earth at all its levels, from genes to ecosystems, and all processes that sustain life. We encourage students and staff to wear Blue and Green to recognize and support Earth Day 2025.

Support Staff Appreciation Week, April 22-25

We would like to thank our WDS support staff for the incredible work they do each day. This includes caretakers, librarians, secretaries, lunchroom supervisors, educational assistants, and school assistants. We have 17 support staff at WDS that we would like to recognize and share our appreciation for all they do for the students, teachers, and the school.

Celebration of Learning

The Grade 3/4 students will be showcasing their learning on April 24. More details will be sent to Grade 3/4 families from their child’s teacher.

School Entry

Just a reminder that all school doors open for students at 7:50 am. If students come before 7:50 am, students will have to wait outside at their designated doors, as we have no supervisors until 7:50 am. If students are on patrols or door holding, they will enter at 7:40 am. We also ask that all students enter through their grade-designated doors, as this is where their coat hooks are located, and their teachers greet them in that area in the mornings. The main school doors are for staff, Enhanced Educational Support (EES) and Kindergartens to enter from 7:50 am - 7:55 am.

Spring Concert Information

This year we will have a spring concert on May 1 from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm based on the theme “Our Musical World”. Please save the date in your calendar as we encourage all families and their children to attend this amazing event. All WDS students will be performing at the concert.
